WM-ADASS, in partnership with Citizens Advice Shropshire, has launched a new Skilled Worker Information Pack designed to support international care workers living and working across the West Midlands.
The guide provides practical advice to help workers settle into life in the West Midlands, understand their rights, and access important services and support.
Created specifically for people on Health and Care Worker Visas and Skilled Worker Visas, the pack covers a wide range of topics including visas and immigration rules, employment rights, healthcare, transport, budgeting, and bringing family members to the UK. It also includes guidance on avoiding exploitation, recognising signs of modern slavery, and where to seek help if problems arise.
The resource was developed to help international care workers feel informed, safe, and supported as they build their lives and careers in the region. It signposts readers to trusted organisations and local support networks, including Citizens Advice services and the West Midlands Social Care International Recruitment Hub.
International recruitment continues to play a vital role in supporting the adult social care workforce across the UK. This information pack aims to ensure workers arriving in the West Midlands have access to clear, reliable information from the moment they arrive, helping them navigate everyday life with confidence and understand the support available to them.
The guide also encourages workers to seek advice early if they experience difficulties with employment, sponsorship, housing or finances, and highlights the importance of understanding visa conditions and employment protections while living in the UK.
