At the heart of our work is a shared commitment: to ensure international care workers are protected from exploitation and treated with dignity and respect. This means supporting ethical recruitment and equipping both care providers and care workers with the tools they need to ensure safe, fair, and supportive working environments.
Across the West Midlands, organisations like Lifted and many local authorities are leading the way in tackling modern slavery and promoting safer practices within the International Recruitment Programme. These efforts help prevent care workers from being placed in unsafe or exploitative situations.
• For care providers, this means having clear guidance and access to resources that help you meet your responsibilities, stay compliant with regulations, and ensure your staff feel safe, valued, and supported.
• For international care workers, it means knowing where to turn if you need help, how to report concerns, and who to contact for support.
We are pleased to launch a new Directory for Safeguarding and Wellbeing Services, featuring key services across the West Midlands and nationally. The directory includes:
• Organisations to contact if you’re worried about someone’s safety or wellbeing
• Services to report concerns about an employer or workplace practices
• Signposting to support for those affected by abuse, exploitation, crime, or harmful behaviour
This directory is designed to provide quick access to help, advice, and action because safeguarding is a shared responsibility. Whether you’re a local authority, care provider, care worker or member of the public, we all have a role in building a culture of safety, respect, and ethical care.
